Artist's Statement Sometimes it is what you don't see that makes you see more. When I make pictures, I like to explore the dichotomy between what is immediately apparent and what lies obscured in a given situation. In a simple setting, a group of trees, a staircase, a room, a story unravels. I rarely preplan a picture. Instead I wait for the subject to react to the situation. I look for tension, the small details of their body language that twist the scene to reveal an unnerving sensuality. I shoot with a 35 mm Nikon Nikormat camera, 50 mm lens and use only available light. |
