Artist's Statement

It is all about visual alertness. This likely explains the diversity of my projects as I tend to "see photographically".

I respect all technologies used in today's creation of images, but rely more on what can be accomplished by allowing available light to touch film in a hand held camera.

I am attracted by natural beauty and life being lived. In the street, I often frame what is not otherwise seen. I have done this in over 100 cities across continents. I also like to work in simple studios.

I have been photographing since childhood and take comfort in the self-proclamation of Helmut Newton that he "got good at 50"!
