Travel Photographs, Africa

This loose cycle includes photographic work from the start of the nineties. At the time I was staying in the south of France, in the L'Aude area, where I spent three months taking photographs in towns and in the country. I was enchanted by the antiquity of the Mediterranean, the lush vegetation, and the different, somehow more radiant, light. I was attracted by the limits of the sea, the boundary between water and land. The logical continuation of these sensations and feelings was further travel, to Africa (Sierra Leone), the Caribbean (Martinique), and India (around Bombay and the Indian state of Goa), which I did not grasp as a pilgrimage to experience the exotic, but the search for a landscape of the soul and a return to distant civilizations. My photography at this time resembled an artistic documentary.
